Iris Bodemer’s new exhibition, Topography + Construction includes pieces from the two series titled as such. These are brooches and neckpieces, some with detachable constructed chains for around the neck. Bodemer utilizes thermoplastics and metal in these works, which flow naturally from her previous pieces. These new works have an appealing awkwardness, a “body language” that is a defining element in the artist's jewelry and part of what makes these pieces compelling, original and strong. Iris Bodemer’s visual vocabulary is like no one else's, which, for me, makes her jewelry hard to categorize and hard to forget. —Ellen Reiben, director
